Autumn conference of the German Lost Art Foundation

Under the heading “New Perspectives in German Provenance Research”, in November 2015 the German Lost Art Foundation held its first conference in Berlin. Prof. Monika Grütters, Cultural Secretary and Chairperson of the Foundation’s board opened the event at the Jewish Museum in Berlin in front of around 350 participants.

Experts from Germany and further afield discussed their experiences in the fields of provenance research and restitution and described their expectations of the Foundation in this context. The Foundation, located in Magdeburg and directed by Uwe M. Schneede, was established a year ago and is considered a central point of contact in matters dealing with Nazi looted art.
