Knitting sheath. The smooth lower part would have been put into the skirt or waistband. The upper part, in the shape of a woman in traditional dress with a horn-like headdress and a (prayer)book carved into her hands. At the upper end a hole has been made into which the knitting needle would have been inserted. Corfu or Lefkada ?, Greece.
