Provenance Research Day on 10 April 2019

The first Provenance Research Day will take place on 10 April 2019. More than 60 cultural institutions in Germany, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland will take part in the day and, in the form of guided tours, presentations, exhibitions and other events, will provide an up-to-date insight into the essential questions and results of research into the origins of their collections and objects.

The aim of the Action Day is to draw attention to the social and scientific relevance of the complex work of the internationally networked provenance researchers, to explain and communicate the manifold questions and methods of this field of research, and to answer interested questions from as broad an audience as possible.

In Austria, participants include the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Albertina Museum, the Belvedere Museum, the Commission for Provenance Research at the Austrian Federal Monument Office, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, the MAK - Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, the TMW - Technisches Museum Wien, the Volkskundemuseum Wien and the University Library Vienna. The actions and projects can be followed under the Hashtag #TagderProvenienzforschung.
