Description

Mortar for poppy seed or linseed, produced from a single piece of trunk, gently conical shape, base and band in the upper third raised with profiled edges. The base and walled area each contain a turning rill at the top and in the middle respectively. Yellow-brownish paintwork, base and upper part also with irregular red paintwork, the profiled edges are dark grey. The walls are painted with the year “18 + 76:” in red and the initials “J:D”, presumably once white, today grey; below them two stylized blossoms. The lid with the button handle is missing. From the Alpine region. 1876.
