Description

Shaped on a potter’s wheel, etched decoration on leather-hard clay, light earthenware fragments, above them a light brown sprue (engobe). It is likely that the sunken areas of the decoration were filled with wax and then came a brown sprue above the body up to the neck. Then came the raw-firing when the carved out areas melted away and the light background came through. Then a colorless glaze was applied and glaze fired.
Flat base, pot-bellied shape, cylindrical neck, broad band-like handle. There is also light brown glaze on the inside. Probably South Moravia.
